How to: Set Up Peak Rates
Navigate to Account Settings » Services & Costs » Peak Rates
Once on the Peak Rates page, click the "Add a new peak rate" button.
In the first row configuration display, you will begin by naming your peak rate (our recommendation is to be as specific as possible when naming your peak rate). Then, you will select the quantity of pets (per pet family) you'd like this peak rate to apply to. Next, you will select the pet type(s) this peak rate will apply to. Lastly, you will select the booking type (daycare and/or boarding) that this peak rate will apply to.
In the second row configuration display, you will configure your date perimeters (i.e. when does the peak rate apply).
- Option 1: "Date" - Select "Date" if the peak rate you are configuring impacts a specific date. For example, New Years Day (January 1st).
Pro tip: If the peak rate should impact the same calendar date every year, tick the box next to "Repeat Annually".
-
Option 2: "Date Range" - Select "Date Range" if the peak rate you are configuring impacts multiple dates for a certain period of time. For example, "Easter Week 2024" dates ranging from March 25th, 2024 through April 1st, 2024.
Pro tip: For holidays that are not static every year (i.e. Easter, Spring Break, Thanksgiving etc) you will not want to select "Repeat Annually" because these holidays are celebrated on different calendar dates every year. You will want to configure non-static holidays on a per year basis, which you can do in advance.
- Option 3: "Day of Week" - Select "Day of Week" if the peak rate you are configuring impacts specific days of the week, for example only weekend days.
Example 1: Day of Week applying to a specific date range. In the example below, the peak rate being configured is from June 1st, 2024 through August 31st, 2024, and will only impacts weekend days (all Saturdays and Sundays). A great use for this setup is if your business has peak rates for summer weekends however, weekends during the rest of the year are not impacted by peak pricing.
Example 2: Day of Week starting on an effective date. In the example below, the peak rate being configured has a effective date starting on June 1st, 2024 and will only impact weekend days (all Saturdays and Sundays) moving forward.
In the third row configuration display, you will configure your peak rate frequency and pricing setting (dollar amount or percentage) (i.e. how does the peak rate apply).
- "Once" vs "Every Day/Night" - The "once" setting will apply your dollar or percentage amount one time globally to the parameters configured in rows 1 and 2. The "every day/night" (based on how your "standard rates" are configured) will apply your dollar or percentage amount to every day or night individually across the parameters configured in rows 1 and 2.
*Some important things to note about peak rates:
- Peak rates will not automatically retroactivity apply to existing bookings (i.e. booking that were in the system prior to the peak rate(s) creation). However, you can manually retroactively apply your new peak rate to an existing booking clicking the "+Add missing/deleted applicable peak rates" link.
*This link will only display of there is an applicable peak rate(s) configured based on the existing booking's parameters.
2. Multiple peak rates could apply to a booking depending on the configuration of your peak rates.
