Overview: What are we talking about?
The services facilities provide vary as well as the information businesses require on a customer or pet profile. For example, groomers may need to know how difficult a pet is on the table, while a boarding facility may need to know if a pet has ever bitten someone. Custom Fields will allow users to gather information relevant to their business needs in addition to our pre-existing hardcoded profile fields.

How to add and enable custom fields
Navigate to Account Settings » Translations » Custom Fields
On this page, you will see the option to enable 1 custom field related to the pet parent profile and 5 custom fields related to the pet profile.
To enable a custom field, tick the box next to "Enable custom field _". Then, enter the text for your custom field.
When you are finished adding and enabling all custom fields, click Save.
Custom fields on customer and pet profiles
Once you have added and enabled your custom fields, they will display on the appropriate customer or pet profile.
Customer profile: The pet parent custom field will display below Internal Notes. Navigate to a customer's profile » click Customer Details.
To enter an answer into the custom field simply click the text box, enter your text, and click Save Details.
Pet profile: The pet custom fields will display below Notes. There are two ways to navigate to a pet's profile to update your pet-specific custom field(s).
1. From the pet parent profile » click the Pets tab » click on the appropriate pet.
2. From the pet's profile » click edit.
Once you are on the detailed view of the pet's profile, pet-related custom fields will display under Notes.
To enter an answer into the custom field(s) simply click the text box, enter your text, and click Save.
Custom fields on the boarding/kennel card
Custom fields will be optional fields you can include on the boarding/kennel card layout (learn more about Managing Boarding/Kennel Cards).
To add custom fields to your boarding/kennel cards, navigate to Account Settings » Translations » Boarding Card Translation.
On this page, you can select which custom fields you'd like to display on your boarding/kennel cards and click Save.
*Please note: The customization of the boarding/kennel card is not available in the legacy layout.
Custom fields on the online booker
Once you have created your custom fields, you will be able to select them as mandatory fields or choose to hide them on the online booker.
Select your custom field(s) as mandatory fields: Navigate to Account Settings » Online Bookings » Mandatory Fields. Tick the box next to the fields you'd like to be mandatory and click Save.
Your customers will now be prompted (in red) to answer your custom fields when registering via the online booker.
Hide custom fields from customers on the online booker: Navigate to Account Settings » Online Bookings » scroll down and tick the box next to "Hide custom fields from pet owners".
